Hello World

Our 140 year old house has come with some nostalgia for the way things used to be done. Yesterday, I made 17 jars of apple jelly and 4 jars of apple butter and I started another batch of apple butter simmering in the crock pot overnight. The house smelled amazing this morning when I got up and after a couple of more hours in the crockpot, another 5 jars of apple butter were put up.

Neither recipe is difficult, both are time consuming and the results have no additives or preservatives and taste so incredibly yummy! This morning, for breakfast, I had a slice of zucchini bread with apple butter, i don't think there I could have had a better meal! The chickens had all the cores and peels from the apples and today they will give me eggs with which I will make more bread either zucchini or apple spice bread.

The zucchini was grown and shredded here and the eggs came from our chickens. The applesauce will start the day as apples we picked and become applesauce which we will make into bread. The walnuts were gathered last fall and hulled, dried and cracked here too.

Welcome to Red Brick Farm. Let me know if you need anything!
